What is a UV DTF transfer?

It is a full-color print with permanent adhesive already on the back, sandwiched between two films. You rub it onto a hard surface and peel the top film away. The print stays behind, bonded to the item.

  • No heat press, no cutter, no weeding, no transfer tape
  • Prints in full color, so gradients and small text come out clean
  • Not a sticker that peels at the edges, it bonds to the surface
  • For fabric you want regular DTF instead
  • Clear top film
  • Your printed design
  • Permanent adhesive
  • Your tumbler, glass or case
The top film peels away. Everything below it stays on the item.

What you can stick it on.

If the surface is hard, smooth and clean, a UV DTF transfer will take to it.

  • Stainless tumblers
  • Powder-coated bottles
  • Glass and candle jars
  • Acrylic
  • Wood
  • Metal
  • Ceramic and mugs
  • Hard plastic
  • Phone cases
  • Laptops and notebooks
  • Coolers and toolboxes
  • Signs and frames

Where it will not work

  • Fabric of any kind, including bags and hats
  • Silicone, or anything with a greasy or waxy finish
  • Rough, porous or heavily textured surfaces
  • Anything you cannot clean properly first

No equipment needed

On the item in about a minute.

Everything you need is your hands and something to clean the surface with.

  1. 1 Clean it Wipe the surface with rubbing alcohol and let it dry. Any dust or oil left behind is where the edges lift.
  2. 2 Peel the backing Lift the printed design away from its backing sheet, holding it by the clear top film.
  3. 3 Rub it down Place it, then rub firmly from the middle outwards so no air is trapped under it.
  4. 4 Peel the top film Pull the clear film back slowly at a low angle. If the print lifts with it, lay it back down and rub again.

Give it a day before washing the item, so the adhesive is fully set.

UV DTF, DTF or vinyl?

They are not rivals. They are for different things, and picking wrong is what wastes money.

How long it lasts, and how to keep it that way.

Tell your own customers this and you will not hear from them again about peeling edges.

  • Give it 24 hours Leave the item alone for a day after applying, before it meets water.
  • Hand wash, every time Warm water and a soft cloth. Dishwashers are heat and pressure, and they will shorten its life.
  • Keep it out of the microwave Same for ovens, and for long soaks in a sink full of water.
  • Skip the scouring pad The print is tough, but abrasive pads and harsh solvents will dull any finish.

Applied properly to a clean, hard surface and hand washed, a UV DTF transfer stays put for the life of the item.

Everything people ask about UV DTF.

Do I need a heat press?

No. UV DTF goes on cold, by hand. If you already own a press, you will not need it for these.

Can I put UV DTF on a t-shirt?

No. It is made for hard surfaces and will not survive on fabric. For shirts, hoodies and bags, you want regular DTF transfers.

Is it dishwasher safe?

We recommend hand washing. A dishwasher combines heat, pressure and detergent, which shortens the life of any applied transfer.

How long does it last?

Applied to a clean, hard surface and hand washed, it is designed to stay on the item permanently. Edges lift when the surface was not cleaned first.

Will it wrap around a curved tumbler?

Gentle curves are fine. For a tight curve, keep the design narrower, or split it into two pieces rather than forcing one wide one.

What files do you need?

A PNG with a transparent background at 300 DPI at print size gives the best result. Not sure? Run it through our free design checker first.

Do I have to cut them apart?

On a gang sheet, yes. Each design is spaced so you can cut between them with scissors or a craft knife.

How quickly does it ship?

Order by 2 PM ET Monday to Friday and it ships the same day.
